One of the most common myths about sex offenders is that they are all monsters lurking in the parks or driving by schools disguised in clown suits.
Sadly, the majority of child molesters (please note, I am now speaking of a specific segment of sex offenders) are known to the child that they molest.
Parents will often spend a great deal of time teaching our children about "stranger danger." A more important topic might be talking about appropriate touching and inappropriate touching.
It is often the new boyfriend, step-father, uncle or even grandpa who is the child's biggest threat.
